Register today for next week’s HireSOM recruiting networking event
On Thursday, February 25 from 7:30-9:00 ET the Yale SOM CDO will host a HireSOM virtual networking event to connect recruiters with Yale SOM students from all degrees. This free event is ideal for recruiters in all industries and geographies that will have hiring needs for summer internships, full-time roles for immediate hire or full-time roles for start dates after graduation. Register early to reserve your spot. This also will ensure students have time to research your organization and to ensure your representatives register for a recommended test drive of Airmeet, the virtual platform that supports this event. Click here for more details or reach out to your Employer Partnership Manager.
What’s Happened:
New math in the Yale SOM CDO:
30 minutes + 0 presentation = big impact!
Whether called Employer Q&A, Open Hours, or Open House, students and employers are connecting effectively and efficiently. These sessions work best when job descriptions are shared in advance and students are invited to attend to learn more and bring questions. The 30 minute sessions kick-off with a quick intro from a recruiter or hiring manager, and then open up to questions from students. The result is a low-frills, low-prep way to quickly get to engagement between employer and potential applicants. If this interests you, reach out to your Employer Partnership Manager for more information.
What’s Happening:
EngageSOMs continue to connect
The Yale SOM CDO launched EngageSOMs this year to bring together a few employers and students interested in a dedicated career space – this month we are hosting EngageSOMs in HealthTech, Real Estate, FinTech, and Education. As the year has progressed, we are seeing increased interest from employers to participate in these part education, part recruiting, part networking events. Typically formatted as 90-minute sessions that start with a 20-minute panel, then disperse into small group break out sessions for the next hour, formats may flex given registration numbers. All EngageSOMs can be found on the Events page in 12Twenty, and employers of any size, sector, and geography are welcome to register!
Internship Fund Activities start next week
The Internship Fund is a student run club that provides financial support to Yale SOM students seeking summer internships in the public and non-profit sectors. Next week begins a series of fun and fund-raising activities in support of this year’s Internship Fund. If your organization operates in the public or non-profit sector and is considering a summer MBA internship, please reach out to your Employer Partnership Manager to learn more about building a recruiting plan at Yale SOM.
What’s Next?
Please share your thoughts on recruiting this year
In addition to supporting current recruiting needs for employer partners and students, the Yale SOM CDO is reflecting on the past year as we plan for the future. We welcome your input as part of the process and invite you to take less than 10 minutes to respond to our survey on recruiting this year.
Yale SOM Career Conversations
Yale School of Management students sit down with alumni for a series of candid conversations about career paths, industries, opportunities for business school graduates, and discussions on career topics including work-life balance and creating a meaningful impact in business and society. This podcast series is produced by and recorded at the Yale School of Management.
We recently released a special short series of five Career Conversations interviews produced by current students interviewing other current students in the MBA or MAM programs who have had experiences and hold career aspirations that fascinate them. In these conversations, they discuss their career paths that led them to business school, what life is really like at Yale SOM, and what they plan to do once they graduate.
