Initiative on Leadership and Organization

Programs and Activities

The activities of the Initiative on Leadership and Organization are aimed at advancing research into leadership and organizations that is academically rigorous and addresses important questions for business and society. In particular, the initiative will support work that uses multiple disciplinary approaches to investigate topics of pressing interest to contemporary organizations and leaders.

Launched in July 2013, the initiative will strengthen the infrastructure for leadership research at Yale, including by developing large-scale databases and other research tools. It will fund individual research projects, and host seminars, talks, and conference that will bring together scholars from around the world who share common research interests.

Its areas of focus include leadership, competitive strategy, workforce management, organizational change and learning, ethics, diversity, global management, entrepreneurship, governance, negotiation, and the relationship between business and society.

Leadership

The Initiative on Leadership and Organization is led by James N. Baron, the William S. Beinecke Professor of Management, Julia DiBenigno, Professor of Organizational Behavior, and Balázs Kovács, Professor of Organizational Behavior. It draws on the expertise of other scholars at Yale SOM and throughout the broader Yale community.
