This summer, I interned at Deloitte within the firm’s human capital strategy group. My project involved collaborating closely with a life sciences client to map out the long-term trajectory of a global technology transformation, ensuring that the human and financial aspects of the rollout are aligned for smooth execution.

Before SOM, I worked in finance. But I realized that I’m particularly interested in addressing the workforce implications of organizational decisions, and I came to business school in order to make a career pivot into human capital consulting. At my internship, I enjoyed the opportunity to address the people-related challenges our client is facing with respect to its upcoming global transformation: securing executive buy-in, identifying various stakeholder groups across the organization and the impact they will feel from the tech transformation, and communicating effectively to those stakeholders.

Deloitte did a phenomenal job helping interns connect with others in the organization. Intern events included a sunset cruise around Manhattan, a WNBA game, a jazz concert at Lincoln Center, and a three-day trip to a beautiful resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. Deloitte practitioners at all levels in the organization, from recent MBA grads to senior leaders, were extremely willing to chat about their journey at the firm and help interns get plugged in. SOM alums such as Anne-Claire Roesch and Kia Khorrami were particularly great resources during the summer. I chose Deloitte largely because of its collaborative, network-based culture—the way people at the firm support each other personally and professionally reminds me of the atmosphere at SOM.

As the consulting industry continues to evolve in response to AI and shifting workforce expectations, the challenges of technological disruption and organizational change are impacting corporate strategy immensely. Clients need trusted strategic partners who can guide them through ambiguity and uncertainty. As I begin my second year at SOM, I’m excited to keep building expertise at the intersection of people, strategy, and technology.
