Profs. Lesley Meng and A. J. Wasserstein Win Annual Teaching Awards
Meng won the award for teaching in the MBA core curriculum, and Wasserstein was honored for elective teaching.
Lesley Meng, assistant professor of operations management, and A. J. Wasserstein, Eugene F. Williams, Jr. Lecturer in the Practice of Management, are the winners of Yale SOM’s 2023-24 teaching awards for residential programs.
The two were selected by vote of students in the full-time MBA program, the Master of Advanced Management program, the Master’s Degree in Global Business and Society program, the Master’s Degree in Asset Management program, and the Master’s Degree in Systemic Risk program.
Meng, who previously won the core teaching award in 2022, also won the elective teaching award in 2021. Meng teaches the Operations Engine core course.
“I am both honored and grateful for this recognition, and I thank my students for making it possible,” Meng said. “The vibrant and engaging atmosphere we created in the classroom would not have been possible without each and every one of them. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of their educational journey.”
Wasserstein, who won the elective teaching award in 2022, teaches Patterns in Entrepreneurship; Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition; Rollups, Consolidations and Programmatic Acquisitions; and Leading Small and Medium Enterprises.
“This is a wonderful honor,” Wasserstein said. “I’m just one of the many excellent instructors who make SOM so special. I’m lucky to work with fantastic colleagues who have patiently helped me find my style and voice in the classroom. Our students challenge and energize me in every class session. I learn from them and appreciate everything they bring to our conversations.”
