Internship Spotlight: Hannah Adams ’25, Reimagination Labs

Through her summer internship, Hannah Adams ’25 is working on new technology to help reproductive healthcare providers and advocates gather needed data.

We asked rising second-year MBA students to check in from their summer internships, where they applied the lessons of their first year at Yale SOM.

This summer, I’m interning at Reimagination Lab, a company that uses emerging technology to develop digital products to help nonprofits increase their impact. I’m serving as a product manager for one of the company’s priority projects: a tool that uses AI to analyze search and social data and produce insights about abortion seekers, particularly in states where abortion is banned or heavily restricted. Reimagination Lab has a history of working with reproductive healthcare providers and advocates to advance their missions; this tool will enable those same partners, as well as new ones, to better understand and address the existing and future needs of people seeking reproductive healthcare. This is critically important at this time, when access to abortion care has been eliminated or heavily restricted in 22 states.

My specific responsibilities include building and refining financial models to test and identify revenue options for this technology, creating investor pitch decks to secure new funding for continued growth, and working with the product development team on the UX design to ensure it is optimized for a diverse group of users.

I had two main criteria for my internship search. First, as my professional background is in nonprofit management, I wanted to gain experience using a for-profit funding model to achieve positive social impact. It was also important for me to work with a small team so that I could gain exposure to several areas of the business. Reimagination Lab was a perfect match for both criteria and I’m grateful to be involved in work that feels increasingly urgent, while also learning about entirely new subjects, from the application of AI for social good to the process of pitching a venture capital fund on a new investment.

SOM’s core classes taught me some important technical skills without which I wouldn’t have been able to succeed in this internship. I learned to develop a financial model through Sourcing and Managing Funds, and to create an investor pitch deck through Innovator. I’m grateful that these classes are part of the core curriculum, because they introduced me to critical new topics and skills; and it’s been exciting to put what I’ve learned into practice this summer. The Public Health Entrepreneurship elective has helped me consider the real-world impact of the AI product I’m currently developing, and to explore use cases and new partners beyond Reimagination Lab’s original thinking.

This internship has given me a front row seat to the process of developing and pitching a product in the impact investment space, which is a career path I’ve long been curious about. The experience I’ve gained, and the opportunity to meet with investors in the space, will be tremendous resources as I plan my post-graduation path.
