Elevating Women’s Voices

Yale SOM celebrates Women’s History Month and marks International Women’s Day with a myriad of events and initiatives in March.

During the month of March, the Yale School of Management participates in the U.S. celebration of Women’s History Month, and on March 8, SOM marks International Women’s Day. This year, the national theme is “Celebrating Women who Tell our Stories,” and our campus celebration will highlight women who have devoted their time and talents to sharing women’s heritage and the larger human story. Yale SOM is proud to elevate the voices of these change makers within our community and beyond.

SOM’s Office of Inclusion and Diversity is collaborating with students, staff, and faculty to celebrate Women’s History Month as a school community. Programming will focus on sharing experiences and perspectives and lifting voices. Events will include book swaps, business panels, conversations with inspirational speakers, and community mixers. Two new programs this year include a series of roundtable discussions with women PhDs from across the university focused on women’s, gender, and equity and inclusion studies, and a keynote event featuring a world-renowned photographer who has spent a decade traveling the world photographing women and listening to their stories. We will support local and national women-owned businesses through these exciting celebrations.

Meanwhile, inside Evans Hall, our large video walls will educate our community by featuring prominent women leaders, past and present, who embody this year’s theme of storytelling through their actions and accomplishments. Everyone at Yale SOM is encouraged to write a note about a woman in our community who has inspired them, and those compliments will be posted all around the building throughout the month.

Throughout the month, Women in Management, SOM’s largest student-run club, is planning impactful programming focused on community building, awareness, and celebration. Fempire, the club’s marquee event and annual business conference, will focus on sharing the journeys of women leaders with an emphasis on innovation. Be sure to check Yale SOM’s Instagram stories at @yalesom throughout the month to hear from Women in Management members who will be taking over the account to share their stories.

We invite you to learn more about our commitment to celebrating diversity and fostering inclusion at SOM.

Happy Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day!
