Tell us about your International Experience trip. Where did you go? What was your favorite part?

I spent my spring break on a Global Network Week with FGV EAESP, the business school in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Our trip is one of the few Global Network Weeks where we go on an expedition beyond the host city - we spent a week on a boat in the Amazon Rainforest! The topic of the trip was sustainable leadership and economic development. Each day, we sailed down the river to meet with a different local or indigenous community and hear about their most pressing challenges and the impacts of deforestation on their daily lives. Some of the highlights from the trip were: swimming in the beautiful Tapajós River multiple times a day, trekking through the forest with Atodi guides who showed us the traditional medicinal uses of forest products, feasting on stews of pirarucu (a delicious Amazonian river fish), and learning about the history of Brazil's national forest system from one of the most successful forest co-ops in the region.
