Post-SOM Position: Investment banking associate, mergers and acquisitions group, Santander Bank
Before SOM, I worked at Raza Development Fund, a Latino-focused national community development financial institution. As part of the specialty finance team, I focused on advancing economic opportunity, social mobility, and racial justice through innovative financing solutions. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role was visiting the projects I helped bring to life—food banks, affordable housing, and community centers—and witnessing the transformative impact they had on underserved communities.
A mentor introduced me to the idea of pursuing an MBA. After meeting passionate and ambitious people at a diversity event for prospective students, and learning about the opportunities an MBA unlocks, I realized how transformative this degree could be for my career. Yale SOM stood out for its mission to educate leaders for business and society, which aligns with my own aspirations to create meaningful impact, particularly in uplifting underrepresented communities.

I’m proud to serve as a club leader for the American Latine Business Association at SOM. I’m also actively involved with the First-Gen/Low-Income Club and the Finance Club. I’ve sought opportunities to grow beyond SOM. I’m currently taking a class at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs titled Intelligence, Espionage, and American Foreign Policy. The course has been fascinating, featuring guest speakers like Kate Heinzelman, the general counsel of the CIA, and other distinguished professionals who provide unparalleled insight into global security and policy. It’s broadened my understanding of how national security and policy decisions shape the global economy, adding a unique dimension to my MBA experience.
One of the most impactful moments I’ve had at SOM was presenting my life story at Voices. Voices gives members of our community a platform to share what matters most to them—whether it’s their journey to SOM, overcoming adversity, or personal reflections on life. My family is everything to me. Their sacrifices laid the foundation for my success. Despite not having a high school education, my parents deeply valued education and worked tirelessly to give my siblings and me opportunities they never had.
Standing in front of my classmates and sharing my story was both humbling and empowering. But what truly touched me was the overwhelming support and encouragement I received from my classmates. They not only embraced my story but also celebrated the journey my family and I have made together.
