Jess Thompson ’21

Given the stage of my career, I had fairly specific objectives in pursuing an MBA. I wanted to build on the skillset that I already have, so that I could become a more effective member of my firm and a better fiduciary for our investors. The field of asset management is dynamic and ever-changing.

The chance to pursue a curriculum focused on asset management was really attractive. It provides a platform where I can learn from some of the brightest minds in my field, while also letting me collaborate with MBA candidates who have similar professional backgrounds and goals.

I find myself applying what I learn in class on a near daily basis at work. It’s a testament to the advantage of Yale SOM’s integrated curriculum.  All of our courses complement and build on each other, giving students  a broad, critical lens through which to view the world, and helping us develop the skills to face business challenges.

The MBA for Executives program is for people who are intellectually curious and ready to take the next step in their personal and professional development. It’s for people who want to both lead and learn. There’s an incredible breadth of knowledge and experiences across my class, but what binds us together is our shared belief in Yale SOM’s mission of educating leaders for business and society. This is a program for people who are passionate about making an impact.
