Tell us about your International Experience trip. Where did you go? What was your favorite experience?
During the Spring semester, I enrolled in the Global Social Entrepreneurship: Kenya course at Yale SOM. As part of this course, I collaborated with a nonprofit organization based in Kibera, Kenya. My fieldwork involved traveling to Kenya, where my team and I worked closely with the organization, conducting interviews and engaging with the local community in Kibera, one of the largest urban slums. This experience was incredibly impactful. It deepened my understanding of the significant challenges faced by the community, particularly in areas of development and educational support. One of the highlights of my trip was seeing firsthand the hospitality and resilience of the Kibera residents. This journey not only broadened my perspective on the practical applications of Yale SOM’s “& Society” mission but also reinforced the importance of contributing meaningful efforts toward supporting under-resourced communities.
