EMBA Student and Alum Named to Two Exclusive Lists
Charina Amunategui ’24 was recognized as one of the 100 most influential Filipina women; Rian English Barnhill ’23 was selected for Crain’s Detroit’s “40 Under 40.”
MBA for Executives student Charina Amunategui ’24 and recent graduate Rian English Barnhill ’23 will be honored for their leadership this fall.
The Foundation for Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) named Amunategui to its list of “100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World” for 2023. Barnhill was selected for Crain’s Detroit’s “40 Under 40” list, which honors young professionals in the city.
The FWN’s list recognizes women of Philippine ancestry who are changing the face of leadership in the global workplace. Amunategui was selected from a field of nominees from 10 countries. Awardees are innovators and thought leaders, entrepreneurs, practitioners, and public service advocates in both the public and private sectors. Amunategui will receive the award at a ceremony at the Lobkowicz Palace in the Czech Republic on November 1.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to be recognized for this award,” said Amunategui, who is an executive director at MUFG Investor Services.
“This isn’t just a personal achievement but a testament to the collective strength and resilience of Filipino women globally. It represents a significant milestone in my journey towards empowerment and reflects my dedication to inspiring future generations with the values of strength, excellence, and resiliency.”
Crain’s Detroit’s list assembles professionals under 40 “who are at or near the top of their game and still rising… Each was nominated by colleagues or peers and selected through a rigorous review process by Crain’s editors and reporters.”
Barnhill is vice president of government and community affairs at Olympia Development of Michigan. She will be honored at the Gem Theatre in Detroit on November 9.
“This recognition means a great deal to me, as it reflects the hard work and dedication of not just myself, but also my incredible team and mentors who have supported me throughout my journey,” Barnhill wrote on LinkedIn.
“I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way, and I am committed to using my position to continue making a positive impact in the business world.
