Post-SOM position: AI solution architect, Dyania Health
I was working at a software technology company in 2020 when I realized that while I had great technical skills, I lacked knowledge on the business side of the operation. I wanted to pivot to a business-oriented role, and I knew an MBA would help me get there. My time at SOM, however, has been much more than a professional springboard. It’s been an enormous personal growth opportunity that’s changed the way I see my job. SOM students view their professions as tools to make a positive change in society. They’re leaders for both business and for society who care about the impact they have on the world. I’m proud to be part of this community. In a time when the world is filled with uncertainty, chaos, selfishness, and fear, my classmates give me hope.

The integrated core curriculum has provided the 360-degree view of business that I needed. The curriculum is structured through organizational perspectives that emphasize the importance of understanding the motives and interests of all stakeholders in a business. It’s been eye-opening! In particular, State and Society, which focuses on the relationship between business and society, has broadened my understanding of current issues, the role the private sector plays, and how we can think beyond profits to ensure business has a positive impact on people. Even small initiatives can enhance many lives.
Thanks to inspiration from one of my closest friends, Nico Pedreira ’25, I ran for a spot on the SOM Student Government my first year. The student government gives us a voice in many aspects of the school, including academics, admissions, diversity and inclusion, and sustainability. I ran for the MBA Admissions Chair position. Before the vote, I gave a short speech to my classmates, laying out my reasons for running and my plans. The reception was so amazing. I stepped off the stage and got a hug from another close friend, Hannah Roth ’25. I can’t put into words how loved, supported, and cared for I felt. During these two years as MBA Admissions Chair, I have had a unique role supporting prospective and admitted students and ensuring they get to know how incredible this community really is and how SOM empowers all of us to pursue our dreams.
