Tell us about your International Experience trip. Where did you go? What was your favorite part?
Prior to SOM, I had limited knowledge about South Korea. I had never visited any country in East Asia, and my understanding of the region was primarily influenced by books and the internet. However, the South Korea International Experience trip transformed my perspective. In Seoul and Gyeongju, I became immersed in the culture, learned about their business practices, heritage, and history, enjoyed their food, and interacted with the highly respectful people of South Korea. The experience broadened my worldview and introduced me to a different way of life characterized by positivity, warmth, and resilience. The desire of the locals to enjoy the little joys of life left a lasting impression on me, and I consistently felt their hospitality throughout my interactions. My favorite experience on the trip was a trip to the DMZ, where I learned about the history and political dynamics between North and South Korea and their hopes for reunification.
