What was your favorite memory from your first year?

My favorite memory of first year was Business & Society the Musical! Every year, SOMers come together to write an original musical about our community so share in some laughs about ourselves, express and experience the incredible talent of our community, and celebrate the & Society. My first year, our show was 
The Hiring Games - a Hunger Games spoof where professional clubs fought for the best recruitment outcomes, and the club with the worse dies, or worse, loses funding! I emceed the musical as the incomparable Monico DelBruce with a blue suit, blue hair, and blue eyebrows to bring Caesar Flickerman’s energy (I was also “doing too much” as a writer & assistant director, too). I loved how this show brought the musical team together to share in pure joy, shine brighter than some thought they could, and get us out of the usual Business mode-set. From people who have never been on the stage, to professionals who’d made a pivot, to musicians who performed on stage for the first time in 10 years, everyone got to shine. And the community reaction of love, laughter, and cheers for the entire team continue to demonstrate just how powerful an APT parody called PPT can be.

I loved the show so much that I’ll be directing for year two!
