Tell us about your International Experience trip. Where did you go? What was your favorite part?
I participated in the Global Social Entrepreneurship (GSE) course during the spring semester of my first year. The class centered on collaborating with real social enterprises in Brazil through a semester-long consulting engagement to address current challenges they face. As part of the course, my project team and I traveled to Sao Paulo to conduct fieldwork alongside the nonprofit we were partnered with. We interviewed agriculturalists, collectives, associations, and local municipalities to gain a deeper understanding of the landscape. Upon returning, we synthesized our findings into a set of actionable recommendations, which we presented to our nonprofit partners at the end of the semester. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences I've had at SOM - deeply hands-on, tangible, and impactful. It offered a meaningful way to apply the principles and tools from our coursework in a real-world setting. One of my favorite moments from the trip was an evening spent on a secluded beach, watching one of the most breathtaking sunsets I've ever seen. Truly a stunning and unforgettable experience.
