The Inclusive Economic Development Lab is a hands-on course, first taught in spring 2019, that gives students the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge practices in economic development and apply them in New Haven. Each year, the course will focus on a different aspect of economic development; in 2019, the focus was opportunity zones. Students met with members of four lower-income communities in New Haven and then made proposals to New Haven city officials recommending a development model for each neighborhood.
The first season of CitySCOPE explores various aspects of economic development and the potential of opportunity zones through interviews with academics and practitioners from all over the United States. The final episodes focus on students’ work in New Haven.
