Study: Yale SOM Marketing Department Is a Leader in Productivity

According to the study, by Stijn M. J. van Osselaer and Sarah Lim of Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, Yale SOM’s tenured and tenure-track marketing faculty ranked second or third in the number of per-capita publications between 2007 and 2016, depending on which journals are included.

A recent study of scholarly output of marketing faculty at top universities found that Yale SOM’s marketing group is among the most productive.

The study found that overall, publications fell by 33% in the 2012-16 period compared to the 2007-11 period. Some of the drop can be explained by a decrease in the number of papers accepted by journals, but it also appears that more papers are being published by scholars outside of the top 30 marketing departments.
