From the Director of Admissions: Summer is the Perfect Time to Get to Know Us

Yale SOM students

Around this time of year, my friends, family, and non-admissions coworkers often inquire if I’m looking forward to some downtime. But, while the weeks post-Commencement can feel like a stark contrast to the incredibly busy months of January and February, June still keeps us on our toes getting ready for the incoming Class of 2020 and planning our recruitment activities for the Class of 2021 (that’s you!).

If you’re considering, anticipating, and looking forward to sitting in a classroom at Yale SOM around this time next year, June is the perfect time to begin exploring the MBA for Executives program and contemplating how it will help you attain your professional goals. To get you started on your journey, we offer three convenient formats for you to learn more about our program: webinars, events, and information sessions.

Webinars: Webinars are a great way to learn more about the EMBA program and its unique areas of focus, and you can access our webinar series  anywhere and at any time. I invite you to register for our June 19 webinar, which will virtually kick off the 2019 application season and will feature yours truly and my colleague, Assistant Dean Silvia McCallister-Castillo. Before then, you can get to know us by watching the webinars that we filmed over the last year with our admissions staff. Stay tuned for more webinars over the next few months!

Meet Us in Person: If you’d prefer to meet us in person, you’re in luck—we’re hosting happy hour events in New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C., during the summer months. These events are exactly as they sound: they’re fun, casual gatherings designed to take the pressure out of the application process and allow you to get to know us (admissions and programs staff, current students, and alumni) in a relaxed setting. You can  kick the tires on Yale SOM and see if those you meet embody the community you see yourself becoming a part of as an EMBA student.

Information Sessions: Starting on July 28, visit us in our home at Evans Hall for a Saturday information session. Go another layer deep into our community by having lunch with our students and sitting in on a class. We’ll also talk about the admissions process and answer your questions. You can RSVP for any of our events on our website. And while you’re here, be sure to cool off by indulging in Ashley’s Ice Cream on York Street, a short walk from Evans and conveniently around the corner from the Yale Bookstore.

There’s no wrong way to get to know us this summer. We’ve given you several options, and you can partake in one, some, or all. The choice is yours!

If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to let us get to know you, as well. Send us your résumé or LinkedIn profile, and let us complete a pre-assessment as a first step in our admissions process.

As always, you can reach out any time to us at emba.admissions@yale.edu. Have a great—and productive—summer!
