In your second year in Yale's EMBA program, you'll both advance your core business and leadership competencies and customize your learning around the subjects that matter most to you.
Advanced Management Core
This slate of required courses—Leadership Practicum, Business Ethics, Competitive Strategy, Management Controls, Corporate Finance, and Advanced Negotiations—will help you further develop the skills you need to lead complex and meaningful organizations.
Electives with an option to specialize
By choosing from our elective courses, you will shape an EMBA program that will advance your professional goals.
In addition to elective courses in leadership, business, economics, and other management disciplines, we offer elective courses in three subjects where deep Yale expertise can help you better understand issues of import to your business, your future, and your society: asset management, healthcare, and sustainability.
Whether you choose to take electives from across all the areas or to specialize in one, you will deepen knowledge and expertise while building relationships with a cohort of like-minded EMBA students and extending your network with connections to alumni and other experts.
You'll also have the opportunity to take courses at other schools at Yale, take a virtual Global Network Course offered at one of our partner schools around the world, or pursue an independent study option.
Choose your pathway
Coming from a healthcare background, I chose electives that would build my financial and entrepreneurial skills. In Venture Capital Investing in Healthcare, we simulated an investment decision by conducting due diligence on a digital health company and developing a valuation model to assess its fair value and provide an investment recommendation. These hands-on experiences equipped me with practical skills I can apply in the real world.
Specialization
You can specialize in asset management, healthcare, or sustainability by taking at least four courses in your chosen area and attending a number of relevant colloquium speaker events. You will deepen your expertise in the subject by leveraging the resources of Yale University and extend your professional network.
Asset Management
Specializing in asset management will elevate your career trajectory within the field. Courses and colloquium sessions from our asset management area of focus provide deep insights and illuminating perspectives for leaders in every field.
