What surprised you the most about being an MBA student?

There is a lot of chatter online about the MBA being essentially a two-year vacation from work. Having read this so many times, I naturally expected a pretty light workload. Imagine my surprise during the first quarter when I barely had any time for myself. There was so much to juggle between classes, individual and group homework, recruiting coffee chats, and establishing a social network. Admittedly, it became a lot easier to handle once I accepted that I was not going to be an all A's student like I had always been prior to business school. Tip for prospective students: Be clear on what you want to get out of the MBA, prioritize aggressively, and accept that perfection is not always possible; focusing on what's most important for your personal and professional growth will make the stress worth it.
