What was your favorite memory from your first year?
My favorite memory from my first year was the 'Executive' core course, specifically when the President of the Metropolitan Museum of Art presented a live case. As a lifelong museum lover and artist, seeing the 'behind-the-scenes' strategic challenges of such a storied institution was a dream come true. However, it was his perspective on leadership that truly moved me. He defined leadership as the willingness to give up your role at any moment, because you will inevitably face a choice between what is required of you and what you know is right. In Yale SOM where we talk constantly about 'Business and Society,' seeing a leader prioritize moral integrity over institutional title was a profound lesson in the weight of the decisions.
