Tell us about your International Experience trip. Where did you go? What was your favorite part?
I travelled to Costa Rica, and it was everything I didn't know I needed. While some IE trips mean long flights and brutal jet lag, we landed in San Jose and were already living it within hours. Over ten days we travelled between San Jose, exploring its core industries, and the laid-back, salt-in-the-air feel of Tamarindo on the Pacific coast. The weather was warm, the food was incredible, and after months of New Haven winters and recruiting intensity, just being somewhere tropical and alive felt like exhaling for the first time in a long time. Costa Rica doesn't get nearly enough credit as an IE destination, and honestly, that's part of what made it so special.
But the moment that will stick with me forever was the Catamaran tour off the west coast. We boarded, cruised about sixty minutes out into the open Pacific, and the world just opened up. We saw whales. We snorkelled, swam until we had no energy left, and then jumped off the ship into cool, deep water just because we could. We swam out to a small island in the middle of nowhere, watched the most breathtaking sunset I have ever seen, and later lay back and stared at constellations that felt closer than they had any right to. There was great food, laughter, and by the end of that day I had made some very close friends. It was one of those rare experiences where you stop taking pictures and just let it happen, and I remember feeling quietly proud of myself for being there, for having made it to that exact moment.
