What is your advice for a prospective SOMer?
My biggest advice is to be intentional about what you want out of business school before you arrive.
SOM offers a wide range of opportunities, from academics to recruiting to student led initiatives, and it is easy to say yes to everything. The students who get the most out of the experience are the ones who take time early on to define their priorities and then commit to them.
I would also encourage prospective students to take full advantage of the people around them. Some of the most valuable parts of the experience come from conversations with classmates who have taken very different paths. Being curious about others and open to new perspectives will shape your experience as much as any class.
Finally, be proactive. Many of the best opportunities at SOM do not come to you automatically. Whether it is building relationships, joining organizations, or pursuing projects, the more initiative you take, the more you will get out of your time here.
