Tell us about your International Experience trip. Where did you go? What was your favorite part?

My International Experience was quite different from most of my classmates. I participated in the Global Social Entrepreneurship (GSE) program, which is a semester-long course where we work with social enterprises in Kenya in a consulting-style role. As part of the program, I spent my spring break in Nairobi. During the first five days, I worked closely with our client, an educational institution that teaches creative skills such as digital media, Photoshop, and animation. We spent time on campus understanding their operations, sitting in classes, and interviewing different stakeholders. Through this immersive experience, we not only gained a deeper understanding of their challenges, but also built strong relationships with the team. It was honestly hard to say goodbye after those few days. After the project work, part of our group stayed longer to explore Nairobi. We enjoyed simple moments like dining outdoors, and visited places like an elephant orphanage and a giraffe center. But the highlight of the trip was definitely the three-day safari. Seeing wildlife up close in such an open environment was incredible—it really made me appreciate the scale and beauty of nature in a way I had never experienced before. More importantly, this trip brought me much closer to my teammates and classmates. It was a unique experience that combined meaningful work, cultural immersion, and personal connection, and it’s something I truly value from my time at SOM.
