From the Director of Admissions: Application for 2014-2015 Is Live
We are excited to announce that the 2014-2015 Yale SOM MBA application is now live!
In addition, we are announcing an important change to our application fee: we are reducing the application fee for potential students with lower incomes. Most applicants will pay the standard fee of $225, but those applicants whose total annual compensation is under $20,000 per year will pay $175, and those with total compensation under $10,000 will pay $125.
This change flows directly from our mission of educating leaders for business and society. It provides access to MBA aspirants who have the potential to have impact across all sectors and geographies, and who bring a diverse array of perspectives into our classrooms and community. We see this change as a way of ensuring that the application fee doesn’t become a barrier for those working for those working in lower-wage regions and industries, or who are still in school or very early in their careers.
Yale SOM has focused tremendous energy in recent years on globalizing its mission. This sliding scale application fee is one of the many ways that we are trying to increase the accessibility of the MBA for candidates from diverse backgrounds and from outside the United States, especially those from developing countries with lower wage structures. In another example, when we introduced video questions last year, we eliminated the English Language Test requirement (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) for non-native English speakers, lowering the barriers for those applying to Yale SOM from outside the United States.
We look forward to receiving and reviewing your application. Reminder: the Round 1 application deadline is September 18. We will have many events before the deadline that will give you opportunities to learn more about our MBA program, including an online reception on August 6 for those of you who cannot attend one of our in-person events.
