Yale SOM Student Teams Place First and Third at NYU Stern Stock Pitch Competition

The annual event convened business school students from across the country to present investment ideas to industry professionals.

Two Yale SOM teams earned first and third place at this year’s NYU Stern Stock Pitch Competition. The competition, hosted by the Stern Investment Management and Research Society, asks master’s students to pitch and defend investment recommendations.

Master’s in Asset Management students Advait Lath ’26, Ashvin Sivakumar ’26, and William Wright ’26 earned first place and a $1,500 prize.

“I am grateful to the Investment Management Club for giving me the opportunity to participate and gain this exposure,” said Lath. “We worked full nights in the library refining our pitch, and it was worth every bit. This will give me a runway to further build on our pitch while recruiting.”

A second team—which comprised Aria Choo ’26, a Master’s in Asset Management student, and Jian He ’27 and Hotatsu Takashima ’27, both MBA students—earned third place and a $500 prize.

“Competing at the NYU Stern Stock Pitch Competition was an incredible learning experience in equity research, an area aligned with my future vision,” said He. “Taking third place means a lot to our team. It reflects the hard work we put in and the support we have received from the Yale SOM community.”
