Yale SOM takes a number of active steps to ensure business school is affordable for U.S. active-duty military us U.S. veterans, and we’re proud to be named a “Military Friendly School” by GMAC. SOM has several scholarships designated solely for veterans and provides application fee waivers for US military members or veterans.

Types of Military Benefits
Post 9/11 GI Bill®
The Post 9/11 GI Bill® provides up to $28,937.09 in benefits as of August 2024 at the 100% eligibility level. Payments made directly to the University toward in-state tuition & fees (fees for room and board, transportation, books, laptop, and supplies are not covered). Rates are adjusted annually by the VA. Yellow Ribbon Program
Under the Yellow Ribbon Program, students who are 100% eligible through the GI Bill and are considered eligible for Yellow Ribbon funding as determined by the VA receive full coverage of Yale SOM tuition and fees through a combination of VA funds and a contribution from the school.
Veteran Readiness & Employment (Vocational Rehab)
This benefit is available to full-and part time veterans who have at least a 20% memorandum rating or a 10% service-connected disability rating from the VA. This includes full payment for tuition, fees, and a monthly stipend. Visit the VA website for complete information. Vocational Rehab does not cover the cost of medical insurance.
Military Housing Allowance (BAH)
A monthly housing allowance (MHA) will be paid directly to benefits recipients based on the basic allowance for housing for an E-5 with dependents for the New Haven zip code (06511).

Yale also participates in the West Point Memorandum of Agreement, which provides reduced tuition for candidates who return to West Point after graduation to teach leadership. More information about Military Benefits can be found here.

Veterans on campus join an active and engaged community. The Yale SOM Veterans Club hosts community events and discussions throughout the year, and also serves as a point of contact for prospective students interested in learning more about the veteran experience at Yale SOM.

If you are a veteran who plans to use VA benefits during your enrollment, you should first initiate the process by applying for veteran benefits on the VA site directly: https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/.
Are all degree programs eligible for veterans benefits?
MBA, EMBA, MAM and MMS degrees are eligible for veterans support programs. The VA determines your percentage of eligibility.
EMBA students are encouraged to contact the admissions office prior to application for specific information.

How will I receive my Post-9/11 GI bill and Yellow Ribbon benefits?
Tuition and fee benefits are paid to your student account. This includes the GI bill tuition benefit, Yellow Ribbon VA support, and Yale's Yellow Ribbon match support.
Book and MHA/BAH benefits are paid directly to the student. EMBA students are responsible for paying any residency charges and fees to Yale through this benefit.
