Yale SOM Admissions Welcomes Joanne Legler
Yale SOM Admissions is excited to introduce you to the newest member of our staff, Senior Associate Director Joanne Legler. Joanne comes to us from Chicago Booth’s Full-Time MBA Admissions office, where she spent nearly 8 years.
Greetings from Evans Hall and Yale University! While I may be new to Yale and New Haven (though not the East Coast; I was born and raised in New York), this isn’t my first rodeo in the MBA admissions arena. At Chicago Booth, I was lucky enough to work under the direction of Yale’s current Dean, Ted Snyder, for a few years. I have to admit that the idea of working with him again (as well as Career Development Office Assistant Dean and Director Julia Zupko, a former Booth employee and alumna) was a major draw for me to consider Yale as my next professional step. The energy, excitement and overall forward, positive momentum surrounding Yale SOM made it an easy choice to pack my bags and head to New Haven.
Two months in, I couldn’t be happier to be part of this team. Every day, I walk to work and continue to marvel at the majesty of Evans Hall and think about how lucky we are as staff to work here, and how fortunate our students are to take their classes and connect with their friends and classmates in this impressive, yet intimate, setting. It didn’t take long before I was acquainted with the SOM community; at the end of my second week here, my colleagues ran a large and successful Welcome Weekend for newly admitted students. It was there that I was introduced to the amazing community at Yale SOM; watching everyone from current students to Tom Kolditz, Director of the Leadership Development Program, to Deans Jain and Snyder welcome this group to Yale SOM was inspiring for me. I can’t wait to meet the Class of 2016 when they arrive in August-- I just connected with several talented Class of 2016 women at the Forté Foundation’s annual conference in Los Angeles-- and I’m excited to start meeting the Class of 2017 as we get ready to hit the road. Some of my favorite parts of my work include the travel I do to introduce students to Yale SOM (India, I’m coming your way for my first visit in August!), working with a team of talented, smart and inspiring colleagues and of course, meeting prospective MBA students, both in person and through your applications as you share your stories and goals for your future.
Speaking of that, I hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities we offer to learn more about Yale SOM and meet our staff, students and alumni. Have a drink at a Summer Social, come hear about Yale’s global aspirations and shake hands with alums at a Yale reception or joint school MBA panel, or talk with a staff member at a Forté Forum around the US. Many of these dates are still TBD, so keep checking back for updated information! My colleagues and I look forward to meeting you soon!
