Summer is over?

In the blink of an eye, summer is almost gone. While my classmates are slowly making their way back to New Haven, I am moving back to Manhattan for my year off as a Silver Scholar. I will return to Yale in 2013 to complete my final year of school. While I am sad to be away from my classmates, I am also excited to gain new experiences. Being an avid traveler, I used part of summer to visit one of my best friends (Beverley'14) in her hometown of Harare, Zimbabwe. We also took a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa before I trooped over to Jordan and Israel to meet up with my mother and brother. Everywhere I went to this summer was beyond gorgeous and absolutely made for a summer to remember.

With the holiday behind me, I steadied myself for my 10-week internship with The Boston Consulting Group. I was a summer consultant with the New Jersey office and worked on projects in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. As a silver scholar, I found the experience extremely enriching as I explored new industries and work dynamics. But most importantly, and as I have already learned from my time at Yale, it was from the people around me that I learned the most and will hold dearest to my heart. Throughout summer, this was true for both experiences in the workplace and from my SOM classmates who were also interning in the city.

For the road ahead, I will be interning at Fab.com, an e-commerce start-up focused on products designed to put a smile on your face. It recently raised $105M in series C funding so I am excited to start work amid the rapid expansion. Being in New York also allows me to make frequent trips back to New Haven to attend events, starting with Club Fair next week. So look out for that post!
