Today’s education leaders need to think strategically while building relationships with people who may bring very different approaches to our common goals. I aspire to be a leader who fosters collaboration, empathy, and trust; who listens actively and values diverse perspectives; and who helps others recognize and cultivate their own strengths. SOM’s program is designed for people who understand the complex challenges of today’s educational landscape and are ready to elevate their impact.

SOM has deepened my understanding of the importance of systems thinking in education. I’ve learned how critical it is to view challenges as part of a larger ecosystem, rather than in isolation. This perspective helps in creating more sustainable, long-term solutions. I’ve also gained a deeper appreciation for the role of data in driving decisions—not just when tracking progress, but also when identifying areas where we make our practices more equitable and effective.

The program has already equipped me with frameworks I use in real time. I’ve learned to ask sharper questions, engage stakeholders more thoughtfully, and reflect deeply on how my values show up in my leadership.

My classmates are a constant reminder of the peace and goodness in the world. They remind me that grace isn’t just something we offer to others; it’s also something we must offer ourselves. The love and positivity within my cohort is palpable. Learning together has reaffirmed the importance of community and reminded me that it’s essential for leaders to cultivate strong relationships with others in this work.
