Professor Mukunda's research focuses on leadership in both the public and private sectors, with a particular emphasis on leading change, ethical leadership, leadership selection, leadership in a crisis, and leading large organizations.
He has taught leadership at Harvard College, Harvard Business School, Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University, Harvard Kennedy School, and the Fletcher School of Diplomacy. In the private sector, Prof. Mukunda has extensive experience as an investor, advisor, and consultant. He is a Senior Advisor to America’s Frontier Fund, the first mission-driven investment platform committed to reinvigorating U.S. prowess in critical technologies, and has advised startup companies from inception through to acquisition.
Prof. Mukunda was also the Head of Research for Rose Park Advisors, a $1BB+ AUM firm that invests based on the theories of Disruptive Innovation. He published two peer-reviewed books on leadership and numerous articles on topics such as military innovation and leadership, financial reform, and the economic and security implications of biotechnology, in venues such as Security Studies, Harvard Business Review, and the Washington Post. His work has been profiled around the world, including in the New Yorker, New York Times, Economist, Atlantic Monthly, and NPR’s All Things Considered.
