Attendees are invited to open the evening with a networking reception for alumni, current students, and Prof. Cort with prospective students being invited to join 30-minutes into the event. Light refreshments will be served. Advanced registration is required.

Topic: “Unraveling the conflict of ESG and anti-woke capitalism.”
Details: ESG has become politicized. On the right, ESG is held up as a distraction from fiduciary duty with calls to ban the consideration of ESG factors. On the left, ESG is a smokescreen of greenwashing while companies and investors continue business as usual. How can these mutually exclusive viewpoints on ESG co-exist? In this session, Todd Cort will lead an exploration and discussion of important questions such as: What is ESG? How and under what circumstances does ESG align with fiduciary duty?

In preparation for the master class, Professor Cort has designated two short optional pre-readings so folks can familiarize themselves with the subject prior to the session and be prepared for an active discussion.
Reading #1: "ESG Can’t Square With Fiduciary Duty," Wall Street Journal
Reading #2: "The Secret Diary of a ‘Sustainable Investor' — Part 1" by Tariq Fancy
