GBS Class of 2024

Meet the GBS Class of 2024

The Master’s Degree in Global Business and Society Admissions team shares details about the program’s newest students.

This year we welcome 70 students in the Master’s Degree in Global Business and Society program Class of 2024 to the Yale School of Management. Students in this year’s GBS class come from eight schools, where they completed or are in the process of completing their master in management degree. These students hold citizenships in 19 countries and speak 23 languages, with all students speaking two or more languages. All 70 students hold a passport outside of the U.S., and the class is 59% women with an average age of 24.

The GBS program is designed to prepare early-career students with fewer than three years of work experience for global careers. Students spend a year at Yale taking one required course as a cohort, with a focus on exploring business and government after communism, and rethinking business’s place in society and its relations with government. Students then choose from a slate of advanced management electives created specifically for GBS students and round out their curriculum by selecting electives from across Yale SOM and the university to customize the remainder of study.

Students in the incoming GBS class come from a variety of professions. A few students are entrepreneurs: one student co-founded four companies in three different countries, and another co-founded a climate tech startup in Austria. Employers that are represented include McKinsey & Company, Christie’s, Nestle, Boston Consulting Group, Goldman Sachs, Christian Dior Couture, Amazon, Unilever, Bloomberg, and Procter & Gamble, among many others.

They have participated in Model UN, taught school in Tanzania, mentored children from disadvantaged households, and served as club presidents in both their master’s and undergrad institutions. One student is a published illustrator of a children’s book series, while another is an author of a book available on Amazon. We have a student who co-founded a humanitarian aid NGO in Brazil, and another supported more than 50 local businesses through a digital initiative during the pandemic.

Their hobbies include painting, playing piano, creating art, cooking and baking, performing stand-up comedy, oenology, meditation, gardening, and photography. Many students also enjoy participating in sports such as golf, tennis, competitive horse riding, water polo, sailing, rowing, gymnastics, Thai boxing, figure skating, dancing, handball, and volleyball.

Along with many interests, students boast a wide array of talents, with one student having a black belt in jujitsu, a skipper with a sailing license, a paragliding pilot, and a certified open water PADI scuba diver.

Students have studied a variety of academic topics at top institutions, including engineering, business, economics, technology, languages, and film and media studies. In addition to their master in management degree, one student holds a master’s in engineering, and another a master’s in international management and finance. They’ve received various academic awards and national scholarships, earning summa cum laude designation, and achieving first class honors and dean’s list designations.

We are thrilled to have this accomplished and diverse group of students join our community at Yale SOM. Welcome to the GBS Class of 2024!
