Teresa Chahine

Senior Lecturer in Social Entrepreneurship

Teresa Chahine is a Senior Lecturer in Social Entrepreneurship at the Yale School of Management, where she teaches in the Program on Entrepreneurship. Her passion lies in increasing access to knowledge and opportunity for anyone who wants to create social change. At SOM, she created the podcast Impact & Innovation, to share the conversations happening in the classroom beyond the walls of Yale. Through Yale Online in partnership with Coursera, she launched a free online course called Creating Change Through Social Entrepreneurship, based on her course at SOM, available for free to anyone in the world with access to internet. The online course is composed of a series of short videos sharing the content of her book, Social Entrepreneurship: Building Impact Step by Step, guiding learners through a ten stage framework to get started in tackling a social and environmental challenge of their choice.

Before joining the faculty at Yale, Teresa launched the first venture philanthropy organization in her home country of Lebanon, providing tailored financing and critical management support to social enterprises serving marginalized populations through education and job creation for youth and women. At Yale, she formed a collaboration with Havenly, a local social enterprise with the mission of building community power for refugee and migrant women. Her latest book project shares the stories of entrepreneurial women and how they pursue meaning, overcome structural barriers, and disrupt the systems that shape our everyday lives.
