Heidi Brooks

Senior Lecturer in Organizational Behavior

Heidi Brooks teaches and advises on everyday leadership—the social moments through which people shape meaning, impact one another, and navigate how to work together. Her work treats leadership not as a role or trait, but as a social practice, enacted in context through meetings, relationships, conversations, and decisions. She is a Senior Lecturer in Organizational Behavior at Yale School of Management and directs Yale SOM’s Program for the Practice of Everyday Leadership.

Interpersonal and Group Dynamics, the MBA elective she has taught for over 20 years, is among the most in-demand and highly rated courses at Yale SOM. Across her teaching and broader work, she treats social interaction as the primary site of leadership learning and development.

Brooks is the host of Learning Through Experience, a Yale School of Management podcast exploring how leaders turn insight into practice in the moments that matter. She also writes for Forbes.com on leadership, learning, and the conditions that shape human experience at work.

She holds a doctorate in psychology from University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University. A lifelong experiential learner, she continues to study in settings ranging from improvisational theater to immersion language programs.
