Meet the Master’s in Technology Management Class of 2027

Each fall, Yale SOM opens its doors to a new cohort in the Master’s in Technology Management program—a one-year degree built exclusively for Yale College engineering graduates who want to augment their technical training with the leadership, entrepreneurial, and communication skills needed to run technology-driven organizations. The Class of 2027 arrived on campus this September.

This year’s students hold degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, biomedical engineering, and cognitive science. They’ve gained experience at investment banks, global consulting firms, research labs, startups, and clean-energy companies. Collectively, the five students in the cohort have co-authored a NeurIPS submission on genomic data analysis, pursued a patent for a surgical device, scaled AI platforms to thousands of users, and pushed forward research in carbon capture and electrochemical energy storage. Outside their academic work, they’ve founded campus organizations, competed as Division I athletes, and run student conferences.

One student points to a senior-year stint at a computational biology lab startup as a turning point that led him to SOM. “I had a career trajectory experience that piqued my interest in working with consumer demands and technical researchers,” he says. “The Technology Management program was the perfect bridging of that gap to equip me for entrepreneurial leadership.”

Another, whose undergraduate research spanned carbon capture, desalination, and clean-energy systems, came to SOM to fill gaps in his engineering education. “I chose this program at SOM because I want to build on my background in engineering while developing the business and leadership skills needed to bring innovative ideas to life,” she says. “I’m looking forward to making the most of my year by building meaningful relationships, exploring new ideas, and finding ways to create lasting impact in water, energy, and sustainability.”

From here, the Class of 2027 will move through a curriculum that pairs core management coursework with entrepreneurship electives and advanced technical study. Alongside the classwork, they’ll spend the year learning from each other—trading expertise across disciplines as they sharpen their own thinking about how technology should be managed, deployed, and scaled responsibly.
