Resources for EMBA and Non-SOM Students

Welcome to the Yale SOM site for EMBA and Non-SOM Students

Spring course selection will open on January 6, 2025

Monday, January 6, 2025: The enrollment request form is available. At this time you can view the Canvas site by selecting "request to visit". To enroll, change your status to "request to enroll." If approved, you will need to take your approval to your registrar to have them officially register you. Note that you will remain a "visitor" on Canvas until you are officially enrolled in the course by your registrar.

Note: Wait-listed Courses will be approved the week the class begins.

The course directory can be found here.

Reminders

  1. If you do not change your status from visitor to request to enroll our office will not know you’re interested in enrolling in the course. Visitors are purged from all Canvas sites a few weeks after the start of classes.
  2. You are responsible for understanding the rules of each Yale SOM class that you are visiting.
  3. Units: The number of course credit units listed on the Yale SOM course page are for SOM students only. Questions about credits you will receive for a Yale SOM course should be directed to your school's Registrar.
  4. Materials: Note that you will be billed for materials distributed in class or via Canvas. This administrative fee is $20 for a 1/2 semester course and $40 for a full semester course.
  5. Photographic and Video Images and Audio Recordings: By attending and/or participating in SOM classes, students agree to have their image and/or voice video or audio captured. These recordings are only available to other students enrolled in the course.

Please read below for more helpful information.

Non-SOM Students:

Non-SOM students should still request to enroll using the enrollment request form. Once approved, you then need to contact your registrar to change your status to audit.  You must have instructor permission to audit and attendance is required.

Current Students’ Spouse/Partners, Employees, Fellows, Alumni (MGT courses only):

Yale affiliates (current students' spouses or partners/employees/fellows) may audit two Yale SOM elective courses per academic semester and Yale SOM alumni may audit one Yale SOM elective course per academic semester with instructor approval at no cost. Auditors must be able to attend the course in-person on the Yale School of Management campus. The course directory can be found here. If instructor approval is granted, complete the Canvas Access Request Form.

  1. Select "Yale SOM Canvas Access/Course Enrollment Request"
  2. Create a profile which includes your student ID number and your YUPI. Please note that errors in your profile will DELAY or HALT processing
  3. Once your profile is created, at your next login, you will be required to provide your Net ID. This will allow access to your profile.
  4. Next, you can select the courses that you would like to visit.
  5. IMPORTANT: When you are interested in enrolling, the next step is to request to change your status from visitor to request to enrollment.
  6. After the Registrar reviews your request, your status will update in your online profile. You will NOT receive an email from us.
  7. If a course is full, you will be wait-listed. We won't approve the enrollment until the first week of class when we know if there are open seats.

* PLEASE ALLOW 24 HRS FOR CANVAS TO UPDATE*
