Developing young scholars

We seek students who care deeply about the problems afflicting our world.

We equip them with the knowledge, the resources, and the networks to pursue positive and ambitious change in business and in life.

Since its founding 50 years ago, Yale SOM has sought to be a different kind of business school—one that educates leaders who can improve their organizations and their communities.

Our Community

At SOM’s annual club fair, incoming students explore the professional, cultural, and social groups that offer opportunities to deepen existing interests and discover new ones.

If my internship at Danone was a general management boot camp, SOM was the business boot camp that prepared me for the internship. The course Competitive Strategy trained me to constantly zoom between the big picture and the small details. Meanwhile, Consumer drilled in the concept that consumers care about benefits, not features, which echoed in my mind all summer as I considered how to win more hearts and minds.

I’ve learned from professors, guest speakers, and my peers. Instead of piecing together discrete learning experiences across coursework and events, I enjoyed a truly integrated experience. SOM students are talented and come from many different backgrounds. At first, I felt a bit intimidated. However, I quickly realized how open and supportive the community is. Everyone wants to share their ideas and learn from others. Conversations with my peers have been some of my best moments here.
