[VIRTUAL] Alumni Perspectives: Nathan Mintah ’90, Co-Founding Partner of 8 Miles

Join this session to hear from Nathan Mintah, Class of 1990, as he shares his story. Nathan will discuss his journey, including his pre-SOM and Yale SOM experiences and how those experiences have impacted his career and life beyond graduation. He will also answer your questions live. Nathan Mintah is a Co-Founder & Co-Managing Partner of the 8 Miles Fund – a US$200 million Africa focused private equity fund. He co-chairs the Fund’s investment and management committees and is a member of the board of directors of the fund manager – 8 Miles LLP (FCA registered). Before 8 Miles, Nathan was a Partner with Kingdom Zephyr – an African private equity fund manager. Prior to joining Kingdom Zephyr, he was Managing Director of the retained advisor to the US$ 400 million HSBC Kingdom Africa principal investment joint venture. Before that he was a Director in the Global Investment Banking division of HSBC in Corporate finance & M&A and served as Co‐Head of Project Finance at HSBC Bank plc (Johannesburg). He worked previously for ABB Asea Brown Boveri, and in investment banking for Lehman Brothers (NY) and for Morgan Stanley & Company (NY). Mr. Mintah has over 30 years combined experience in private equity and investment banking. His experience includes private equity principal investing, M&A advisory, equity & debt capital raising and project finance in the telecoms, energy, financial services, and resources sectors with several successful transactions in the USA, Nigeria, South Africa, and East Africa. Mr. Mintah holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a BSc degree in Mathematics from Eckerd College (USA). Nathan serves on the boards of 8 Miles portfolio companies – Blue Skies Holdings Limited (UK) and Beloxxi Industries Limited. His previous board roles include member of the board of Directors of Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed, Consolidated Infrastructure Group Limited, and a board alternate of Barcelona, Spain headquartered, Mixta Africa SA – a low-cost housing developer focused on Africa. He is the Chairman of the Africa Advisory Committee of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
