The Business of Gambling in Massachusetts
Wednesday, Oct 16 2019 at 6:30 - 9:00 pm EDT
Encore Boston Harbor
1 Broadway
Everett, MA 02149
United States
The 2011 decision to establish gaming facilities in Massachusetts was viewed by many as a great risk to the social and economic wellness of the region. Others viewed it as an opportunity for Massachusetts to pave the way for a gambling economy doing things the right way, resulting in incredible economic growth and giving cities like Springfield a fighting chance at becoming a strong and vibrant community.
All Yale alumni and their guests are invited to join Stephen Crosby, Former Chairman of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission who will lead a peer exchange about the strategies and aspirations associated with implementation of the Massachusetts Expanded Gaming (Casinos) law, and the actual economic and social impacts of the casinos to date. Panelists include:
Stephen Crosby, Former Chairman, Massachusetts Gaming Commission
Bob DeSalvio, CEO of The Encore Boston Harbor
Rachel Volberg, Principal Investigator, “Social and Economic Impact of Gaming in Massachusetts” and Associate Professor, School of Public Health, UMass Amherst
Mark Arsenault, Member, Boston Globe Spotlight Team, and lead reporter on Casinos for The Boston Globe
Kevin Kennedy, Former Chief Development Officer, City of Springfield, MA
A reception will follow the discussion at which refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available. We hope that you'll join.
