Carla is the author of the two books, Strategize to Win (2014) and of Expect to Win (2009), and she is a renowned singer who has performed five sold out concerts at Carnegie Hall and sold out concert at the famed Apollo Theatre.  Carla has a new publication on the horizon this year, and she will preview her expansion of “Carla’s Pearls of Wisdom” in this soon to be released book during this session.

This event is open to the Yale community. Registration is required.

Carla Harris, author and vice chairman, managing director, and senior client advisor at Morgan Stanley, recently spoke at the Yale School of Management about leading with authenticity and maintaining a commitment to clients and community. In a discussion with Jamila Abston ’17, an alumna of the MBA for Executives program and a partner at Ernst & Young LLP, Harris shared tips with students on how to communicate for success.

Everybody values being heard. Whenever someone says, ‘I hear you,’ you immediately create currency that you can reinvest into the relationship. If you tell someone, ‘Tell me what you value,’ and you listen, it’s that much easier for me to deliver what you said matters to you.
