It is natural to think of careers as a progression of titles and job descriptions within given industries. Yet, this approach to careers may limit the extent to which we work on the most pressing problems as well as the extent to which we generate the most meaning from our work. This is because it is more likely to be defined and constrained by organizations’ current priorities and processes. In this session, we will discuss the complexities of innovation for complex problems, as well as what it might mean to reframe how we view our career from a focus on titles to a focus on solving problems, from a focus on job descriptions to a focus on the pursuit of meaning, from a focus on career progression to a focus on leading with purpose.
