In the Bay Area, SOMAA and Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance have partnered to provide alumni with opportunities and resources around nonprofit board service.

After kicking off the initiative with promoting the Volunteer Center's Board Match event last month, we are pleased to invite you to an upcoming interactive YANA workshop around nonprofit board service.

Have you been asked to join a board only to discover the organization doesn't know anything about your skill set? Do you struggle to get your board members to work together on the projects most important to advancing your mission? Finding enthusiastic volunteers is only the beginning of building a world class, volunteer board. A great board requires thoughtful planning and regular attention from both the board members and from the organization's staff. Join us for an intimate roundtable discussion about best practices in identifying and developing effective nonprofit boards.

The roundtable will be facilitated by Heather Erickson, former President & CEO of the Life Sciences Foundation and founding President of MedTech Association. She has also served on the boards of technology incubators, residential facilities, university departments, and state economic development initiatives. Heather is Yale Class of '99 and works in the fields of organization development, strategy consulting, start up operations, and executive communications.
