Yale SOM Speaker Series in London: Seminar on Social Finance

The Finance SIG and Speaker Series of the Yale Club of London would like to invite you to attend a seminar on Social Finance. The seminar will be composed of a panel, chaired by Anne Glover '78, founder of Amadeus Capital, and former chairwoman of the European Venture Capital Association, and will include distinguished speakers from the social finance sector. These include: --Caroline Mason, CEO of Esmèe Fairbairn foundation --Michele Giddens, founder and CEO of Bridges Ventures --Mark Cheng, Director of Europe at Ashoka --Kieron Boyle, Head of Social Finance at the UK Cabinet Office The panel will discuss how the financial system in the UK, and globally, can contribute to achieve social returns. The speakers have extensive experience and track records in raising and deploying capital for the benefit of society and for the well being of communities as a whole. They represent different disciplines within social finance: social entrepreneurship, venture philanthropy, and impact investing. RBS has a strong heritage in social finance - its independent charity, RBS Social & Community Capital, was established over 15 years ago. Through its flagship Community Business Loan, RBS makes loans from £30k to £750k available to social enterprises who might have otherwise been shut out of the mainstream lending market. RBS Inspiring Enterprise has funded over 4,500 social enterprises since January 2013. A networking event with drinks and canapés will follow the seminar, offered by the sponsor.
