[WEBINAR] Yale SOM Grading Policy: A Conversation with Dean Edward A. Snyder and Senior Associate Dean Anjani Jain

Yale SOM's senior faculty recently voted to revise the school's grading policy beginning in fall 2015. The announcement of the decision has generated a healthy and enlightening debate among alumni. All alumni are invited to join Dean Edward A. Snyder and Senior Associate Dean Anjani Jain as they discuss the motivations for the change, describe the process that led to the change, and outline what changes have been adopted. For assistance please contact yalesomalumni@yale.edu** Edward A. Snyder, Dean & William S. Beinecke Professor of Economics and Management Edward A. Snyder is Dean and William S. Beinecke Professor of Economics and Management at the Yale School of Management. As Dean, he has overall responsibility for the school's academic programs, for enhancing its reputation, and for strengthening its finances. The school's objectives are to be: (i) the business school that best leverages its home university - eminent and purposeful Yale University; (ii) the most global U.S. business school; and (iii) the best source of elevated leaders for escalating complexity in all sectors. During his tenure at Yale, the school has (i) developed the first global network of top business schools, (ii) introduced its Master of Advanced Management degree for graduates of the Global Network for Advanced Management, (iii) implemented a new, required Leadership Development Program for all Master's students, and (iv) forged yet stronger programmatic relationships with other Yale professional schools. Mr. Snyder began his professional career as an economist with the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics and an M.A. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. He began his academic career at the University of Michigan where he developed programs in Central Europe, China, India, and Russia. His research and teaching is focused on industrial organization, antitrust economics, law and economics, and financial institutions. Previously, Mr. Snyder was the Dean and George Shultz Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Anjani Jain, Senior Associate Dean for the MBA Program & Senior Lecturer Dean Jain's research interests include the analysis and design of manufacturing systems, optimization algorithms, and probabilistic analysis of combinatorial problems. He has published in the professional literature on telecommunications network design and his more recent work has investigated the impact of growing product variety on the manufacture and design of families of products, especially in the automobile industry. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from Indore University in India, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a PhD in operations research from the University of California, Los Angeles. He joined the faculty of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986 and served for 26 years before joining Yale SOM.
