Portland Mushroom Hunt and Lunch
Saturday, Nov 2 2013 at 1:30 - 5:30 pm EDT
Get a "behind the scenes" look at harvesting and cooking wild mushrooms in the backwoods of Oregon's wine country. Our group will meet at the historic Joel Palmer House restaurant in downtown Dayton, Oregon at 930am. From there, we'll take a guided mushroom hunt in nearby McMinville to hunt for wild chanterelles, led by mushroom expert and veteran Chef and restaurant owner Jack Czarnecki. After a few hours in the woods, we'll take our harvest back to Joel Palmer House where we'll meet up with Jack's son, Chef Christopher Czarnecki, for an insider's look at the restaurant kitchen, a few tips on cooking with wild mushrooms, and a tasty lunch featuring some of the freshly harvested wild chanterelles. Don't wait to register--there are only 10 spots available! Please note: Participants should be prepared for rain and muddy conditions in the forest and dress appropriately for the weather (e.g., boots, raincoats, fleece). Participants are encouraged to bring a change of clothes/shoes for the lunch portion of the trip at the Joel Palmer House restaurant. Sponsored by SOMAA. When: Saturday, November 2, 9:30am-1:30pm Where: Meet at the Joel Palmer House (600 Ferry St, Dayton, OR)
