"2-Hour Job Search with Interactive Lab"

Sunday, Apr 10 2011 at 5:00 - 8:00 pm EDT

Date: Sunday, April 10th, 2011 Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Place: Christian Science Monitor, Copley Plaza, Boston Note: You will need a laptop for this interactive session, if this is a concern for you contact the CDO at som.cdo.alumni@yale.edu. The Yale SOM Career Development Office is pleased to host a "2-Hour Job Search" workshop with interactive lab facilitated by Steve Dalton from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Technology and high unemployment have fundamentally changed the job search. Hiring managers increasingly rely on referrals to avoid reviewing hundreds of resumes per job posting. However, MBA/MPPM graduates find online postings' convenience irresistible, discouraging them from "traditional" searching. The 2-Hour Job Search is the subject of Spring 2012 book from Random House's Ten Speed Press. It incorporates the best practices of many MBA disciplines to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of a job searches three main components – Prioritization, Outreach, & Informational Interviewing.
