Yale School of Management’s Program on Stakeholder Innovation and Management (Y-SIM) announced today that Deloitte Global Chief Executive Officer Joseph B. Ucuzoglu has joined the program’s advisory board.

Y-SIM’s mission is to develop new thinking that helps leaders become experts in creating long-term value for the stakeholders who matter to the success of their organizations by supporting academic research and developing robust curricula for students, executives and entrepreneurs.

“The business community is a creator of opportunity and economic growth and has a responsibility to drive positive and inclusive impact for all,” says Ucuzoglu. “When one maintains a long-term view, taking good care of stakeholders—employees, customers, suppliers, local communities, and society at large—converges with the objective of driving premium returns for shareholders as well. Y-SIM is key in helping our next generation of leaders learn that, in working together, we can help advance sustainable progress and shared prosperity around the world.”

Under Ucuzoglu’s leadership, Deloitte has integrated generative artificial intelligence into its platforms and recently launched GreenSpace Tech, an initiative to help clients accelerate decarbonization by bringing together climate technology ecosystems in a systematic, purposeful way. In September, the company announced record fiscal year global revenue of $64.9 billion for FY2023, a 9.3% increase over its USD revenue from FY2022.

Deloitte is the largest professional services organization in the world, with more than 450,000 professionals providing audit and assurance, tax and legal, consulting, risk advisory, and financial advisory services to companies and government agencies. Among other positions, Ucuzoglu previously served as the Deloitte U.S. CEO. He became the Deloitte Global CEO on January 1, 2023. He is also a member of the Business Roundtable and the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council.

John Seifert, former chief executive officer for Ogilvy Group and current Y-SIM chair commented on the addition of Ucuzoglu to the Board:

“There is no stakeholder challenge in today's complex business environment that Joe and his team at Deloitte are not tackling head-on as a leading professional services firm in partnership with their clients worldwide. Joe will give the advisory board real-time context and invaluable insights into Y-SIM's important work.”

In addition to Seifert and Ucuzoglu, Y-SIM’s advisory board includes: Jim Breyer, founder and CEO of Breyer Capital; Kenneth I. Chenault, former chair and CEO of American Express and current chair and managing director of venture capital firm General Catalyst; Louis V. Gerstner, Jr., former chair and CEO of IBM and current chair of Gerstner Philanthropies; Sam Palmisano, former chair and chief executive officer of IBM and current chair of the Center for Global Enterprise; and Dr. Lisa Su, chair and chief executive officer of Advanced Micro Devices.
