David Swensen Teaches Asset Management Students About "The Yale Model"
Professor William Goetzmann is the Faculty Director of the MBA for Executives Asset Management track and currently teaches MGT807E Portfolio Management: Alternative Portfolios. In his class, Goetzmann takes students on an in-depth dive into the use of alternative investments in the institutional portfolio. Students study portfolios in the spirit of the Yale Model and address the range of institutional issues raised by the use of illiquid, new or sophisticated investments. Each week the class discusses current research on the asset class, possibilities and challenges that it represents.
The MBA for Executives Asset Management students also get to learn a lot from guest speakers who are experts in portfolio management. Most recently, Professor Goetzmann brought in special guest, David Swensen, Chief Investment Officer at the Yale Investments Office, to give a lecture to the students about "The Yale Model."
