Programs

The Swensen Institute’s activities will augment existing programs across the university, including the Master’s in Asset Management and the MBA for Executives Asset Management Area of Focus.

Master’s in Asset Management

Yale SOM’s unique Master’s in Asset Management is a quantitatively intense program designed with the idea of merging academic theory and investment practice. Co-founded by the late David Swensen ’80 PhD (Yale's former Chief Investment Officer who managed the Yale Endowment for nearly 35 years and the pioneer of the “Yale Model”) and Professor Tobias Moskowitz (Dean Takahashi ’80 BA, ’83 MPPM Professor of Finance and a principal at AQR Capital Management), the program offers both courses in academic theory that are taught by top-ranked finance faculty at Yale SOM, doing cutting-edge research, and electives taught by practitioners in the asset management field from a variety of firms and allocators. Graduates receive an MMS degree and take on full-time roles across a variety of financial management positions, from hedge funds to philanthropic portfolio management.
